Week 14 ( 1- 7 April 2013)

This is probably one of the least happening week. Only event to look forward to is Chrystal's (one of Gabriel's best buddy) birthday party on Sunday.

So priority on my to do list....to buy a present for Chrystal. I know she likes Strawberry Shortcake but finding a good gift from Strawberry Shortcake locally is such a difficult task. Found something in Amazon but  they do not ship to Singapore :(

Luckily I spotted a huge Strawberry Shortcake doll in one of the toy shop the other day and I had to thank one of Gabriel's friend's mummy to help me check if the shop in Parkway Parade has it.

Gabriel thought this doll is a pinata and he was all ready to whack it..........

On Friday, I spotted some very cute kid stamps in shapes of UFO, Robots, rockets etc so picked a few for Gabriel. He had some fun stamping using my Distress Ink.

Friday the boys had some relaxing moments in the balcony with our little doggie, sugar. To think of it this dog of mine is 12years old!

Making use of the good weather on Saturday morning, Gabriel read a book lying on our balcony bench.

Finally, it's Sunday...the fun day at Explorer Kids in Downtown East and this cake is so pretty. Kids these days are so fortunate...they get big parties, lots of presents and elaborate cakes to their choices.

Next week,  look out for Gabriel's party pictures!!

Week 13 (25 - 31 March 2013)

Yeah this week is a short week. Thanks to Good Friday holiday!! :)

At the age of 5, Gabriel is already having Monday blues......he woke up and said he his tummy is aching and he can't go to school. I think it was too much fun he had at his classmate's party. But guess what he gave me a very baby look and my heart softens and said alright you can stay at home today.

As expected when I got home after work, he was all smiles and happy. Think I made his evening when he saw the print out on his Lego Ninjago banner which I'm making for his birthday :)

Woke up on Wednesday morning and I found him still in his pyjamas reading his Avengers book - a gift from Leah's party. He said he like superhero books. So I have decided to contact his friends who are crazy over superheros as well to start a book exchange programme. Hopefully the exchange program will last.

Friday was lovely. Sis brought him to a Easter Party which gave me time to do some scrapping. He came back with a pencil case (in a shape of a car) that he absolutely love.

In the evening, hubby and me had some "us" time. We went for Kumar Show - What Makes a Man a Man (which was seriously not as good as we expected). After which we went for some finger food and a short walk along the bay. The bay view is captivating. I must say Singapore's skyline is looking better each day although getting too crowded for my liking. Took these pictures from my new Samsung Note II. Wished I had my Canon camera with me for this beautiful view.

On the weekend, we paid a visit to Gardens by the Bay to check out this new eating place - Satay by the Bay and also check out the decorations in the Flower Dome.

On the way to Satay by the Bay, Gabriel spotted a lizard. We stayed for a while to let him have some nature fun.

A little review about this place....I like the outdoor feel and the cute little chairs and tables on the wooden deck which are so child friendly. Food wise was quite disappointing. Satay was not that fantastic, pizza wasn't really cook well and Gabriel commented that the fried rice he had has no taste.
The best dish of the evening was probably the fried carrot cake with bacon. If you are there, try this dish. It's really quite yummy.

Here's some pretty pictures of the Flower Dome on Easter theme.

That's all for this week. Bye for now!

Week 12 (18-24 March 2013)

It's exactly one month to Gabriel's birthday....so it's time to get busy and send out invitations. We had a tough time searching for good party ideas since he has already attended so many this first quarter.

While googling for party ideas, we chanced upon a Science party organizer. I know this will be a great party idea as Gabriel has recently written a page in school, titled - What I want to be when I grow up...his answer...to be a Scientist.

I have decided to handmade all the invitation cards this year. So I took out my Silhouette Cameo and start cutting up some fonts and mist them up with colors. After that we had fun with some stamping and pasting of washi tapes.

This week, Gabriel has moved on to swim in the competitor's pool with some encouragement and a little pair of flippers from the coach.

Not too much happening this week..except Gabriel is getting more independent. He tries to do more things by himself like picking his own favourites in the bakery and bringing the tray to the counter for payment.

He's also into this word game - 4pics 1 word...he's actually quite good in it.

Ok. That's all for this week. Have a great week ahead!

Week 11 (11 - 17 March 2013)

At the start of the week, all the mummies have decided that the kids should have some fun on Wednesday evening....so we brought them to a new place to do some fishing.

I'm surprised that Gabriel is so pro in fishing. He managed to catch quite a lot of fishes on his own and even lend a helping hand to some of his friends who are not so lucky. At the end of it all, the kids went home with catch in a mini tank. Check out his tank!

On Friday morning, when I woke up, I saw Gabriel sitting down all by himself trying to write a story for his reading session to his class on 17 April. So mummy promised him that she will bake him some yummy cake for him tonight :)
Wow wow wow...The cakes have turn out perfect. Glad that I have not lost my baking skills!!

Saturday, the day when all his fishes has died even though we have been feeding them and putting in a pump for oxygen. Gabriel has woke up crying for the past few mornings as he sees more and more fishes dying everyday.
To heal his sadness, his daddy promised to buy him a terrapin after his Tien Hsia performance later today. At the pet shop, his daddy decided to buy 2 terrapins instead so that they can keep each other company.
Look how happy he is with his new pets.

While he was pre-occupied with his new pets, I have found some time to work on our holiday photos. It's taking much much longer than I expected. I still have one more day at the Sea World to complete the holiday pages. I need to find more time.....

Sunday morning, I finally kept my promise to wake up early and bring him to his favourite Chee Cheong Fun store for breakfast. In the afternoon, we head over to Auntie's house to have a swim with his cousins and to celebrate Great Grandma's birthday. Great Grandma is 82 this year! :)

Grandma and Grandpa still looking good and loving....till next week!!

Week 10 (4-10 March 2013)

Woke up and realize that it's the 10th week of 2013....that's bad cause I have not even started on my project life for this year. I know that by the time I really do sit down and do it, I would have forgotten all those precious stuffs. So I have decided........I'm gonna write down all the amazing things Gabriel has said so far on the journal cards.

Monday: Gabriel found this game in the store room and we started playing Mastermind.....such a nostalgic game but still lots of fun. I wonder why this game did not take off as well as Monopoly or Scrabble which we have all been playing from God knows when.....still remember card games like Happy Family, Old Maid or Donkey??

Can you tell what Gabriel is trying to build here?
It's a cupcake stand which I chanced upon during lunch time and it was the last piece on sale. Such a pretty thing and I couldn't resist leaving it in the shop.
Gabriel was so excited when I opened the box. He insisted on fixing it together and helping me paint it. Not to dampen his spirits, I let him complete his first coat of paint on the stand.

This is the completed look after 3 coats of paint and one top coat to seal it in and also provides a waterproof layer. My doily puncher came into very good use. I really like the end result of this cupcake stand. Do you??

On Saturday, after his Tien Hsia class, he did his usually trip to the Lego shop in Parkway....this time he took up a big box and said mum this is so cool. Take a picture and show papa I want for my birthday present!!

Saturday night, it was back to Food Trail at the Flyer for some sinful dinner. I love the old street market ambience and this Hokkien Prawn noodles.

After a sinful dinner, it's time for walk to burn off some food. I took these pictures from my Samsung NoteII and surprisingly they all came out looking good.

While I was busy testing out my phone camera, Gabriel wanted to look for insects or some cool stuffs in the rocks. The start of their adventures at The Flyer.
Sunday: It's time for Hans's Birthday!! Our very first time attending a soccer party. The boys had a wild time.

Check out these handmade goodies by Hans's mummy. I seriously have no idea how she manage to do these all by herself without a helper and still looking fresh at the party!! I know I will be out flat if I'm the one.

Highlights of the birthday must be this live bat that they spotted hanging on the fence and the beautiful 3D cake.

I would have thought that Gabriel will be tired after a few hours of soccer. Hmmm I guess he has more energy than an energizer battery.
This boy took a shower and can't wait to open is goodies bag from Hans party. He had a good time painting this car. Didn't turn out as bad as I thought it will be. Guess he took on some of my artsy genes :)

At night, I finally sat down to try and complete our photos from the Gold Coast trip. Here's some sneak peeks.
