Final Project for SaCrafters

Dear readers,

Today I'm sharing my last project for SaCrafters.

Like all good things, it has to come to an end. The past 6 months has been really wonderful; a great honor to be part of SaCrafters Design Team and I had an awesome time playing with all the lovely chipboards and wood products.

So on my last project, I thought I scrap a layout on my headshot photo....a remembrance for my scrapping album that I have been on a great team :)

So this is the layout! I have to confess that I have used many SaCrafters items on this layout as I was trying to showcase as many items as possible into one single layout.

Mixed Media Canvas for SaCrafters - Spread Your Wings & Fly

Hi everyone,

I hope everyone is doing good so far. I have recently taken on a new job and I know that it's gonna be an exciting journey for me. I should have more time with my kid and getting to work is a breeze when it's just 10mins drive away. So big "yay" to no more traffic jams! :)

This canvas was completed some time back when I resigned from my previous company....wanted to give a message to myself....remember to Spread Your Wings & Fly!

Lots of thoughts have been put into creating this canvas cause I want it to be a very meaningful piece.

  • Lace Flowers; signifying to bloom and grow
  • The big gear behind the brush acts as the sun, hence the way I spread the premixed gel medium giving an illusion of sun rays.
  • Of course I need wings to fly, I put on a double wing reminding me of a butterfly. Meaning it's time to evolve!
  • Lastly, the paint brush. I could have put in a mini broom stick like the Harry Potter Nimbus 2000 if I could find one. So the closest I could play with is a paint brush :)

Here are so close up photos before you scroll on to my video tutorial.

Altered Jewelry Box

Hi everyone,

Another altered item!!....well well I had my fair share of fun with canvas and layouts recently. So today I'm going to showcase an altered jewelry box :)

I picked up this box from a local craft shop some time back. Below is the finished product. Love the rustic look! Scroll down to check out the original look which is plain and boring.

Anyway, I forgot to take photo before I start working on the box, But I found a picture online from this website which is very similar to my box.

From an original plain looking box where it doesn't get a 2nd glance, I have gave it a fresh new coat of attraction. Agree? Hi 5 to THE power of paints, mediums and embellishments! :)

Here are some close up photos for a better picture of the texture and effects.

If you like what you see and would like to learn how I have achieve this look. Check out my video tutorial for the whole alteration process.

I will be listing out the supplies used along the way, thus do prepare a paper and pen to note down any details :)

Double Layer Canvas - Wish Come True

Hi lovely crafters out there,

I'm up super duper early today to share a mixed media canvas created for SaCrafters which I will also be submitting for Scrap Around The World Challenge.

I have used a 2 canvases on this project for a pop up effect. Base is a 9"x 12" flat canvas panel and the top is a 7" x 9" stretched canvas.

There is alot going on here, from the texture background to the mosaic effect using scrap pieces of chipboard diecuts on the front canvas. Most of all, I love the heart gear which is one of the new items from SaCrafters store. Hence it became the centre of attraction.

I'm also proud to mention that I managed to transfer some used embellishments taken from an old layout to this mixed media canvas project. That's the idea behind scrapping right? To use "scrap" pieces :)

Do check out my 6mins video on the whole process.
In the video, I have also listed out all the supplies I have used at every stage.
So you may want to get ready a pen and paper to note down any details.

And these are the direct link to the SaCrafters items used. Remember to type in Priscillafans for a 10% discount in SaCrafters store.

Sentiment Tag

Heart Gears

When creating the canvas, I have actually worked around this lovely mood board from Scrap Around The World March Challenge.

I was inspired by 3 things in the mood board.
1) In the top left photo, the background and horse mane has lead me to create the the crackle and sparkling base. The horse mane looks soft and feathery; inspiring some feathers going onto the canvas.

2) The quote "There is sunshine in my soul today". That leads me to being happy, hence the "be happy" tag on the hot air balloon. In addition to that, the pretty sunshine also means "the start of a fabulous morning" which you can find this quote on the chipboard embellishment above the mini fairy. With all the motivational tags, hopefully everything goes well. Hence, may all our wishes come true!

3) The color of Yellow and shades of Blue in the mood board inspired the whole background color. There are some tint of greens on the canvas cause yellow + blue = green. Agree?

Alrighty that's all for today. From the sunny side of Singapore, I wish all a great week ahead :)

Happy Crafting and thanks for visiting my blog.

2 piece Inspirational Canvas for SaCrafters

Hello everyone, how's your weekend?

I went for a late night movie...Kingsman. It was a great movie. I love Colin Firth! Caught him in Pride and Prejudice, Bridget Jones Diary and still love his movies after all these years :)

Well the reason I'm back today is not to discuss about Colin Firth; I'm here to share a 2-piece inspirational canvas (7" x 9") which will double up as a great decor piece. So here it is!

As usual, I do not use traditional paint brush. I find that I paint better with my fingers and sponges. So this background is created with a facial sponge. Don't believe me? Scroll down and catch my video :)

I really enjoy the whole process of creating this striking background inspired by the great mother nature......sunset is the theme. Do you?

Oh I nearly forgot, the quotes are printed on a cardstock and layer of matte medium has been applied to ensure that the ink will last.

Well, my boy loves it and said that we should keep this and not give to anyone. But I'm thinking of doing some good deed with these 2 canvases. Sell them off and donate the proceeds to an appointed animal rescue centre. Good idea right?
