Santa's Sleigh For 2Crafty Chipboards

Hi Everyone, I'm back today to share a Christmas project.  My title of this post has said it all.....this time, I'm sharing an altered Santa's Sleigh! Since Christmas is my all time favorite holiday, I love everything about it and Santa's sleigh is definitely one of them.  I have seen many sleighs out there that are either bold red or dark classic green. So this year, I have decided to make one for myself; deviating from the usual look to create a sleigh using my usual pastel palettes.  It was super fun altering this sleigh with 2Crafty Chipboards cause I simply love how the flourishes adds a touch of royalty to the sleigh. Agree?

Altered Photo Frame For ColourArte

Hi ya crafters, 

I'm popping by today to share a gorgeous 5R photo frame I have altered for my project with ColorArte.

Wouldn't you agree that this frame will be a great gift as a decor piece?

In truth, when I created this frame, I had someone in mind :)

So this is one awesome gift idea for the upcoming holiday....CHRISTMAS!!

Nothing beats handmade gifts! Agree?

I have made a video tutorial on the whole process of altering this frame. 

It's a short 5mins video for the busy life we are all living. So do take 5mins to watch it.

In case you are wondering....no I did not take 5mins to alter this frame :)

Altered Paper Marche Elephant A Project for ColourArte

Hello everyone, hope you are all feeling ok. Especially those in the neighbouring countries that has been affected by the haze from the forest fire in Indonesia.

As we hibernate indoors from the super unhealthy air; I wonder how many animals have suffered or are killed by the forest fire. 

It saddens me that humans are so cruel and destructive.

In memory of animals who were sacrificed or should I say murdered in this aftermath, I have altered an elephant in memory of them all. 

I have actually tried to find paper marche orangutan or birds, but couldn't find any in the craft store, so I choose an elephant - the gentle big giant instead.

Isn't this a beauty? It's my very own version of Dumbo :)

This is my video tutorial on the whole process of altering this elephant. 

As usual I have speed up the video so it will only take less than 5mins to grasp the whole process.

My First Project With ColourArte An Altered Paper Mache Frame

Still remembering that very Monday morning when I received the email from ColourArte to be part of their Video Creator Team. 

I literally made my Monday and brightens the whole week!!

Since the day I submitted my application, I have been praying that I will make it into the Designer Team. Still smiling from ear to ear while I type this post :)

ColourArte has so many awesome products....It's a dream come through for me and I can't wait to play with the rest of the products.

So for my first project, I have altered a paper mache frame as shown below with Silks Acrylic Glazes.

As usual I would like my viewers/readers to grasp the whole process without taking too much of their time. This speed up video below is a mere 4mins without discounting any steps.

ColourArte Design Team Application

Hello everyone,

I'm back today to showcase a project I have made especially for the application to be part of ColourArte Design Team.

As you have all know, I love altering items with different mediums thus I'm really excited to put my hands together and have some fun!

Taking in a deep breath......here's presenting my very own altered wooden frame! A motivational piece with gorgeous colors, shimmer and textures!

In another way of interpretation, life is short, have lots of fun and lead a colourful one! I just love the happy colours, sweetness of pearls and butterflies and the prettiness of flowers, not to mention, elegance with a touch of gold :)

**Did you notice how I double up the seashell at the bottom of the wooden frame as a leg so that when I lean this frame against a wall, the sea shell will help to tilt it up at an angle. Cool idea???**

Here are some close up shots for you to get a better look.

You can see the burst of colors in this photo and how with the combination of medical gauze, flowers and butterflies it neutralise the vibrant colors and soften the overall look. .

Check out this photo and see how I roll up a small piece of burlap to simulate a nest. 

The chain of pearls would act as eggs laid by butterflies. 

Did you notice how the glue created some web effect around the pearls?

Last really close up shot for you to have a good look on the texture and spectrum of colors.

For this submission, instead of doing a video tutorial, I have done a written one as follows:

This is the original look of the wooden frame. 

It is a see through frame which I have laid a piece of burlap on the back end.

Give 2 layers of white gesso and let dry.

Glue on a piece of lace along the circumference of the frame for some texture and apply gesso over it.

Then apply a thick layer of Gel Medium and start placing items seashells randomly. 

Do not worry about spaces in between as we will move on to fill them up with other embellishments

Once the medium has dried and seashells are firmly adhere, I filled up the empty spaces with a premixed paste (Gel Medium with beads and glass microspheres).

Next add on some flat back pearls and microbeads.

Wait for it to dry

Once dried, coat a layer of white gesso to prep all the embellishments for more coloring

**********

Let's start around the border. I have painted the 4 sides in 2 different shades of blue

Then I work on the front panel with some of my favourite colors.

Working on the center attraction now, start with a piece of medical gauze.

**********

Then I use a small piece of burlap, roll and close up one corner, like making an ice cream cone.

Place the burlap cone in the corner.

Notice that I have also stuffed in some loose burlap strand to create a more natural look.

Next, stuff in a strand of pearls into the cone.

 Make sure you have enough length to lay up to the top of the canvas.

I have used transparent crackle paint and 3-in-1 beacon glue to hold the strand of pearls in place.

This can be quite tricky so have patience working on the pearl strand.

Next step is easy peasy....add flowers!

Time to pretty, fleety fly! Butterflies! 

These pretty little ones are punch out using Martha Stewart punch and I glam it up with glue stickles.

Final step brush on some gold metallic paint on the micro beads and sides 

for some glamor and grace!

So now, I will sit back, cross all my fingers and toes, thinking at the back of my mind, will I chosen??

Feeling like I'm submitted my exam papers and waiting for the results to see if I have passed!

An Altered Photo Frame for Father's Day

Hi everyone,

We all know that Mothers usually get lots of attention on Mother's Day.

Did you remember that Father's Day is just about 3 weeks away? If you have not figure out what to give to your dearest, here's a simple photo frame from Ikea which I have altered.

This is a fun, cool and cheery looking frame....most important NO flowers. Daddy can proudly display it in his office and I'm sure it will brighten his day with such a cute pop up photo :)

Do take some time to check out a short 3 mins video. It's really fun and easy to make one with your kids. Children are very creative and I'm sure they can come up with awesome patterns. They will surely enjoy doodling.

Altered Jewelry Box

Hi everyone,

Another altered item!!....well well I had my fair share of fun with canvas and layouts recently. So today I'm going to showcase an altered jewelry box :)

I picked up this box from a local craft shop some time back. Below is the finished product. Love the rustic look! Scroll down to check out the original look which is plain and boring.

Anyway, I forgot to take photo before I start working on the box, But I found a picture online from this website which is very similar to my box.

From an original plain looking box where it doesn't get a 2nd glance, I have gave it a fresh new coat of attraction. Agree? Hi 5 to THE power of paints, mediums and embellishments! :)
