The Coastal Settlement

Today, I want to introduce a place which I really love....The Coastal Settlement.

This restaurant is near Changi Village, well hidden from the hustle and bustle of city life.

If you love vintage stuffs and enjoys listening to Chinese and English oldies, THIS is the place to go. Even Gabriel had lots of fun grooving to the music.
A picture says a thousand words....so here are some pictures....since it's more than one, they say a million words! Lol!

Go check out the place when you have the time. It's a great place to relax on a Sunday morning.

A Day in Forest Adventure

Time for another posting.....sigh....meaning it's Sunday - it's back to work tomorrow. Lucky thing Tuesday is a public holiday so we have a short week. Yea! :) For those who have taken the Monday off as well; Happy Super Long Weekend *wink wink*

For the past few days, I had to look into Gabriel's enrichment classes and also the sports courses that he is taking since he will be starting primary one next year and will be attending the afternoon session. A few questions I have on my mind but the 2 pressing ones are:

1) Should we let him continue his tennis lessons?
2) Which Chinese enrichement school he should go to? He will be going to Tao Nan School which he will have to take on higher chinese so we will need to ensure he's going for the right one. Currently, he's going Tien Hsia but I had people telling me that they do not really follow MOE's curriculum.

Enough of these boring stuffs. Let's talk about today.....it's was our first trip to Forest Adventure in Bedok Reservoir. We were attending a birthday party...yes indeed party ideas are getting so diversified now. Can you imagine how many brain cells mummies out there have been squeezed dried just to come up with a creative party??? Amazing what parents do for their kids and yes we are guilty of that too!

If you have not been to Forest Adventure, it is actually a place with tree top course.....challenging the kids physically and emotionally. As it was Gabriel's first attempt, I was all dressed up and prepared to accompany him on the course. But Gabriel was simply AWESOME. Not a hint of doubt and fear. His courage and bravery seize the day! He just went through the course all by himself not once but TWICE! He even teased his friends who were going too slow (which he got a ticking from me for being mean to his friend).

"All ready to rock the course"

"Briefing time! Listen carefully kids"

"Start of the exciting course"

"Ready Get Set Go"

"Going steady at the start"

"First landing and performing out of my expectation"

"On we go to the swinging platform"

"Be careful not to let your feet fall through"

"This is easy peasy"

"Mum, I tired and thirsty. How long more?"

"He's getting all the confidence and is going too fast and close to his friend"

"Check out his thigh muscle"

"Woohoo mum this is so cool!"

"Last course - The Flying Fox"

"The end"

I'm looking forward to make a mini scrap album of his adventure today. I'm sure when he look back, it will be priceless :)

If you have not tried it, bring your kids there. I think it's a great outdoor experience for the kids.

That's all for today folks. Tata!

Week 15 (8 - 14 April 2013)

This is an Awesome week!!

First of all Gabriel was featured in an advertisement for an Executive Condominium called Twin Fountains on Wednesday, 10 April.
Coincidently, this very day was also his Chinese birthday and Chrystal's birthday. Grand-aunt was so sweet, came by with a small cake to celebrate his Chinese birthday.

On Sunday morning, we all woke up bright and early to get ready for Gabriel's party. He decided to put on his Thor costume for the party and we gave him his very first present...a big set of Ninjago.

And off we proceed to the party venue which is at McDonalds in East Coast Seafood Center to put up some decorations and also to ensure everything is in place.

Finally the party started, the Science theme was based on "air". See how the scientist is warming up the crowd. You can tell that she's doing a good job with all the laughter going on around the room.

Here Gabriel get to go on some fun stuffs...balancing 2 ping pong ball with hot air from a hair dryer and shooting the flame of the candle with a huge gun!

Next up, every kid gets a Mad Science tattoo for good behaviour.

More fun stuffs to follow where they created foam and their very own slime. The photo on the right are his cousins. They have all grown so big now.

Finally, it's cake cutting time.....all the kids were wowed by the cake. The scientist gave them a pair of fragmented glasses as well so they see the candle flame in a spectrum of lights.

I'm so impressed with this cake. It's so pretty and colorful. I ordered it online from Sensational Cake http://sensationalcakes-online.blogspot.com/. The lady was very accommodating and even went the extra mile to help us looked for a good quality photo that matches his present from us. Believe it or not....the whole cake is edible. Yes, all the stars and ninjas are edible. The kids were all screaming at me to give them a piece! Overall nice looking cake and it taste good too.

All his friends went home with a fun loaded goody bag from Mad Science.

After the party, his buddies wanted more fun. The weather was fabulous that day so we all stayed back to relax a little. Gabriel ran straight to the beach I didn't even get a chance to stop him from going into the water in his Thor costume!

We came home with a whole load of presents and told him that he can only open one present per day.
Hee hee this way, we don't have to buy any new toys for the next few weeks.

Before he went to bed, he wrote a letter to Chrystal. Gabriel said it's a secret letter so I will respect him and not post what he had written.

Thank you to all who attended the party and not forgetting the wonderful presents :)
